I loved the drive out to Carlsbad. It was so beautiful, hills, ocean, green and that bright blue sky. Our second half of our trip found us at a beautiful hotel with lots of space in our rooms, an awesome pool with lots of green plants surrounding it, trips to Target :), and of course the outlet mall down the hill from our hotel and that place called Legoland that brought us there in the first place.
Legoland lived up to it's reputation especially for the lego lovers. I think the highlight of Legoland is miniland usa. Fantastic replicas of American cities as well as a few other famous locales. We took so many pictures in miniland section- I don't think they will do justice to the detail of the lego building.
A few photos of hotel fun...I love this picture!
The kids had this done in the games room at the hotel. Much cheaper (free) than to have it done at the parks. All the kids had their faces done. Skylar showed the girl her shoe and she did the converse symbol for her.
R2D2 made out of lego.
The knight from Summer's favourite ride.
Our girl loving her horses.
Lombard Street a la lego.
MGM Grand in the Las Vegas section.
The president's motorcade and the Marine Corps memorial. All lego.
more to come..

Sea World California
Some more photos from California. These are from Sea World in SanDiego.
Did you know flamingos are pink because they eat a lot of shrimp? I guess this guy doesn't like shrimp.
These guys are so cute. They felt really weird- a bit like rubber. We each got to feed them fish or ice cubes.
Almost the whole gang snacking on that American Chex mix.

Universal Studios
We drove to Hollywood to spend a day at Universal Studios. The kids had fun meeting characters and going on rides- including some scary ones- Jurassic Park, Revenge of the Mummy, the Simpsons ride (which made the dads feel sick)- they really like that when they are seemingly tougher than the adult. We went to a special effects show, met animal actors at the animal show and Maggie got to participate.
If you look really carefully you can see the Hollywood sign, the kids were very excited to see it.
Marilyn made out of Jelly Bellies at an awesome candy store.
I was happy the older kids didn't act too cool for Dora because the little ones really wanted to have their picture taken with her and wouldn't have without the older girls.

Love Summer's face in this one.
These two were taken at Santa Monica pier- it was very cold and windy. We didn't last long.
Lounging by the pool at our hotel and having such fun swimming.

Disney's California Adventure cont'd
Finding out which Disney character you are most like. Skylar= Jiminy Cricket/Belle, Summer Nala from the Lion King, Katrina=Mulan, Bryan= Sheerkhan(evil tiger) from the Jungle Book. Of course he did write in the questionnaire that he'd rather eat nice people for lunch than go to lunch with nice people.
